“This is the best birthday ever”, I heard my Dad say a few times throughout the evening. Although he was only half joking, it gave me the chills thinking about how lucky I am to be blessed with the parents that I got. Growing up I had birthday parties and get togethers every year. I remember planning a month in advance for what I was going to ask my parents to buy me. Slowly the gift requests became bigger and bigger. Mostly toys and electronics that are long gone.
My Dad said that growing up he was lucky to get a small cake for the family to share at the end of the night. What a different experience.
Anyhow, my Dad decided that he wanted to go bowling for his birthday this year and I was pumped. We invited Caitlyn’s mom and bowled the night away. A couple highlights were the look on my moms face when the guy in the next lane threw his ball at the same time sending her into shock. Apparently in bowling etiquette, you should never throw the ball at the same time as someone in the neighboring lane. The guy next door never got the memo. Look at her face.
The pure joy of bowling is the source of pretty much every other photo in this post. Strike or gutter ball, bowling is fun as hell. I just started to learn how to spin the ball, the secret is that you don’t use the thumb hole at all.
