Covid Camping in Mammoth

August 21, 2021

Caitlyn, Logan, and I headed up to Mammoth to meet up with the rest of the Fry family to do some summer camping. With most of the major campgrounds booked up for the rest of the year, we were able to snag two adjacent sites at Sherwin Creek Campground in the tent camping section.

Overall the trip was a mix of warm and sunny days with chilly nights into the 50s. It even rained one day while we were out for a little jaunt in the forest. As it was Logan’s first camping trip, we had everything we could ever need to take care of a toddler in the great outdoors. We upgraded our little three-person Kelty tent to a four-person Costco mansion tent and high key, I’m ok with it. If I’m going to spend my vacation time sleeping on the floor, I want to be a little more comfortable. We hit up all the usual spots and soaked in as much nature as we could handle.

The funny thing about this trip was that this was the first time I’ve been sick in at least two and half years. Maya showed up to the trip sick. And try as she might with masking and keeping her distance, Caralyn fell prey to the cold. I think it was the time that I rode in her car for 2 minutes but then when we got home, I got sick. And since I was watching Logan, he got sick. And since Logan still nurses with Caitlyn……you guessed it. Caitlyn got sick. Virology is pretty nuts.

Our happy camper.
Even dingy sweat pants look good on this babe.
Poor Maya. She was sick for most of the trip but she had some bright spots where it seemed like she forgot she was sick for a while.
This kid must have eaten like 5 lbs of fruit over the whole trip.
No matter where you sat around the fire ring, the smoke followed you. It was the worst.

Somehow we got this kid to wear a hat and keep it on. Seriously, this is the first time he’s allowed this.

Boys Trip to San O

August 28, 2018

A couple of weeks ago, Tony invited me to a good old fashioned boys trip out to San O. With my bag of hurriedly packed clothes from the night before, I set out south as soon as the school bell rang in Orange. With nothing but my duffle and two cases of beer, I pulled […]

Atiba Comes to Orange

May 23, 2022

It’s no secret that I grew up skateboarding and worshipping all my favorite pro skaters. I remember hanging out at United Boardshop for hours when I was a teenager. I was allowed to go behind the cases and help out around the shop. I still remember when Chomp On This came out on VHS. It […]

Snow in Late May

May 31, 2019

This post really ought to be called photos of Carter, Caitlyn, the snow and strangers. (In that order) Long story short, we headed up to Mammoth Lakes for Caitlyn’s birthday over Memorial weekend. Instead of warm and sunny skies, we were greeted with 50 degree days and a mild snow storm on Sunday. The forecast […]
