Life since having Miles has been a little hectic. I’d say that the majority of people I talked to prior to having a second kid told me that that jump from 1 to 2 kids was nothing compared to the jump from 0-1. For a variety of reasons, I disagree.
The simplest way parallel I can find to this new dynamic uses simple algebra. What used to be “solve for x” is now is “solve for x and y“. As you can imagine, their schedules and needs don’t always line up to make for smooth transitions throughout the day. Needless to say, I am incredibly grateful to our mothers who help care for our children throughout the week. I have way more respect for stay-at-home moms than ever before. Caitlyn, if you’re reading this. I love you and respect the hell out of you.
So Christmas is here, and we’ve got a 2.5 year old and a 2 month old to try to get out of the door in a timely fashion. Honestly, our version of “on time” tight now means that we are only one hour late.
Luckily, Caralyn and Leo wanted to host Christmas at their place this year and we were more than happy to pass that torch. And you know what? They did an amazing job. The day was seamless, there was enough seating and they even had a second course of tamales planned for lunch before everyone took off. It was a perfect day with family. I’m so glad that my parents were able to make it as well. Before Covid, my parents house was THE house that everyone celebrated everything at but over the past years, a couple of key cousins have moved out of state and other aunts are happy to host their own things at their houses. With my parents being empty nesters at this point in their lives, I love that they are in the mix with the Fry family. It’s truly heartwarming.
Alright enough gushy stuff, let’s get to the photos of the kids.
